We are thankful for so many incredible community organizations
This holiday season, the Philadelphia Gay Men’s Chorus is thankful for so many other wonderful non-profits and agencies throughout the Philadelphia region. We are proud to work alongside them as we all strive for a more inclusive, loving, and giving community.
As we think back on the past year, and all the strife that so many have faced – particularly underrepresented populations in the LGBTQ and persons of color communities – we honor the following fantastic organizations and agencies for continuing to be beacons of light for the City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection:
Home for Hope – A homeless shelter for LGBTQ individuals, this organization works tirelessly to keep the city’s most vulnerable populations off the streets.
The Attic Youth Center – The LGBTQ youth served by The Attic find themselves embraced through a series of community resources and programs that aim to fight the isolation and oppression this demographic often faces.
Philadelphia FIGHT Community Health Centers – FIGHT is Philadelphia’s premier culturally competent comprehensive primary health care institution, and a leader in the decades-long fight against HIV/AIDS in Philadelphia.
The Mayor’s Office for LGBT Affairs – With the introduction of Philadelphia’s new Pride flag, including black and brown stripes which represent the often unheard and under-recognized LGBTQ communities of color, this government commission cemented its place in our hearts as a vital voice in our city.
GALAEI – Through leadership and economic development, sexual empowerment, and grassroots organizing, this queer Latin@ social justice organization makes a definitive mark on Philadelphia.
Philly Black Pride – For nearly two decades this organization has sought to transform and improve the living and social environments for LGBTQ persons of color in Philadelphia through advocacy and community building.
In this season of giving, we hope you will consider supporting these incredible causes in all the difficult and amazing work they do.
The PGMC salutes the vibrant LGBTQ communities of Philadelphia, and will continue to raise its voice for you!
