Andrew Mercier
... is a proud German-born, Mexican-American army brat who grew up in the Hudson Valley. He graduated from New York University’s Steinhardt School in 2009 with a degree in Media, Culture, and Communications. After 15 years in New York City, he made his way to Philadelphia with his husband to build a new life.
It was a lucky turn of events that brought Andrew to a queer networking event at the Moshulu where Brotherly Love performed a few songs. Not only did he enjoy their performance, but was reminded of how much he enjoyed singing with his high school chorus and wondered if joining PGMC could help him rediscover a love of music and find queer community in a brand new city. After a lot of pep talks, he gathered the courage to audition and officially joined PGMC as a Tenor 2 in August 2023.
Since then he’s had the opportunity to perform in amazing places like Citizen’s Bank Park, the Whitney Museum, and Marian Anderson Hall, and more importantly, make great friends who make rehearsal a highlight of his week. He’s also leveraged his experience working in the media and public relations to help promote the chorus across the region. Andrew joined the Board of Directors in April 2026.
Andrew lives in Bella Vista with his husband Mike and his ever growing collection of thrifted fashions and grows prouder everyday to call this city home.
